Responsible Mining Laboratory

The Responsible Mining Laboratory (RML) promotes responsible mining i.e., mining that achieves zero harm, realises net positive environmental impacts, improves social performance and leaves a positive legacy.

The RML aims to address priority problems through fundamental and applied research, including supporting and encouraging multi-stakeholder dialogue.

Through the Skills Accelerator, the RML provides accredited training in the areas of mine health and safety, mining and the environment, community relations practice and leadership for sustainable development. The RML also provides input at policy level, to influence change towards sound environmental practices, just social relationships and good governance in the broader minerals sector.
