WSG Midweek Meet Up with Prof Riel Miller and Prof Geci Karuri-Sebina
On 25 September 2024, Associate Professor Geci Karuri-Sebina, Director of the Tayarisha Centre, and Professor Riel Miller, a Visiting Adjunct Professor at WSG and an Associate of the Tayarisha Centre, held a discussion session titled "What and Why ‘Anticipatory Governance’ for Wits?" This topic has gained increased attention within the governance sector, partly due to the United Nations' decision to hold its inaugural Summit of the Future in September 2024.

The What and How of Developing Systems for Red Flagging Potential Corrupt Practices Using South African Public Procurement Data
On 04 March 2025, the Tayarisha Centre, in collaboration with the Mandela Institute (Wits School of Law) and the Global Corruption Observatory, hosted a workshop aimed at tackling two closely related topics concerning public procurement data and its analysis within South Africa's anti-corruption efforts. The first topic addressed the modified Governance Risk Assessment System (GRAS) proposed for South Africa. This proposal focuses on a digital system for flagging potential corruption in public procurement. The second topic explored the feasibility and practicality of implementing the modified GRAS proposal.
