Translation and Interpreting Studies
The Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies offers postgraduate degrees. These allow students to gain the expertise needed to work in all areas pertaining language practice, including translation and interpreting. In our department, students can build on their undergraduate knowledge in languages, literatures, cultures and other neighbouring disciplines to become fully-qualified translators and interpreters.
Alongside the practical training offered, students also become acquainted with the academic disciplines of language practice, covering a range of fields.
Translation
Translation students are exposed to a variety of texts in fields ranging from law and finance to literature and the media. Graduates are well prepared to respond to the dynamic translation market and have a keen understanding of research in the field.
Interpreting
Interpreting students are exposed to the theoretical foundations of interpreting and to a variety of interpreting contexts. They are trained by international, experienced interpreters in order to equip them for the demands of the profession.
