GIS Day in the School of Architecture and Planning
On the 17th of October 2023, Dr. M Siteleki hosted the inaugural GIS Day in the School of Architecture and Planning. GIS Day is an annual global event that commemorates GIS-based technologies and their diverse applications across various disciplines. The Wits GIS Day provided students with a platform for career development and, importantly, facilitated networking opportunities with professionals from academia, government, and the private sector. The event not only provided students with valuable insights into career opportunities but also established a platform for ongoing engagement between the academic community and professionals from diverse sectors. This successful gathering exemplifies the commitment to advancing knowledge and practical applications in the dynamic field of GIS.

Launched in June 2022 under the SARCHI chair in the School of Architecture and Planning, the Spatial Analytics Laboratory (SALY) fosters research and collaboration on a national and international level, with a particular focus on the use of spatial data and digital technologies.
