A Fulbright alumnus, NRF B-rated researcher and member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), Professor Brett Bowman is the Head of Postgraduate Strategy in the Research and Innovation Office.
Committed to growing a sustainable knowledge pipeline in Africa, he is responsible for implementing the University’s Strategic Plan for Postgraduate Research Training. He also serves as the Wits Academic Director of the Wits-Edinburgh Sustainable African Futures (WESAF) Doctoral Programme.
Prior to moving to the Research Office in 2022, he was the Assistant Dean for Research in the Faculty of Humanities. He continues to conduct research, teach and supervise in his role as a professor in the School of Human and Community Development. As part of several interdisciplinary collaborations nationally and internationally his own research focuses on the causes, correlates, consequences and situational dimensions of interpersonal violence.
Prof. Jill Bradbury

Jill Bradbury is Director of Postgraduate Curriculum Development in the Wits Research and Innovation Office. She has previously served as the Assistant Dean, Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Humanities (2010 – 2014) and Deputy Head of the School of Human and Community Development (2022). She is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Principal Investigator on the NEST (Narrative Enquiry for Social Transformation) research project. Her research focuses on intergenerational narratives, socio-historical theories of personhood, the transformation of higher education, and the (im)possibilities of individual and social change.
Dr Yolanda Davids

Dr. Yolanda Davids, is the Deputy Director of Research at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). She holds a PhD in Business Management from North-West University, a Masters in Commerce from the University of Johannesburg, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Western Cape.
She has dedicated herself to the advancement of research and academia. Before joining our WITS, she served for 12 years at the National Research Foundation, where she played a pivotal role as the Director of Grants, focusing on Student and Postdoctoral Support. Her expertise is not just in the realm of academic achievements but also in the practical aspects of research management, including pre and post-award processes and student funding.
She is passionate about nurturing the next generation of scholars and researchers, and her role at WITS encompasses guiding and supporting our postgraduate students through their academic journeys.
Katlego Khoetha

Mr Katlego Khoetha holds a master’s degree in the field of digital business from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and his research focuses on the adoption of digital platforms for student services within Wits. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management which he completed through Wits Business School and a BCom IT degree. He is internationally certified as TOGAF Business Architect and ComTia IT professional. He has a wealth of expertise in business analysis and process management. He serves on the University of the Witwatersrand e-Research and Enterprise Architecture Governance committees as evidence of his dedication to academic success. In his acting role as the Head of IT Systems in the Research Office, he oversees a dynamic landscape of postgraduate systems, streamlining postgraduate administrative processes, embracing cutting-edge technology trends and identifying key market drivers of innovation to support the Head of Postgraduate Strategy and Innovation within Wits. He is also serving in the permanent role as the Manager of Business Process and Analyst teams within the Wits ICT department.
