The 2015 Health Sciences Research Awards Celebration

The annual event celebrates the outstanding achievements of researchers and Research Entities in the Faculty during the previous year.
The Health Sciences Research Awards event hosted by the Dean and the Assistant Dean: Research and Postgraduate Support took place on the 19 August at the Automobile Club in Killarney. Dr Linda Hlabangana, from the Department of Radiology co-hosted the citations with Professor Bev Kramer. The annual event celebrates the outstanding achievements of researchers and Research Entities in the Faculty during the previous year. As August was Women’s month, it was auspicious that 65% of the awardees were women.

The following Research Entities were recognized for their outstanding performances in 2015:
Antiviral Gene Therapy Research Unit, Empilweni Services and Research Unit, Centre for Health Policy, Wits Advanced Drug Delivery Platform Research Unit, Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolism Research Unit, Respiratory and Meningeal Pathogens Research Unit.
The event was closed by the Dean, Professor Martin Veller, who congratulated all the awardees and also thanked Professor Beverley Kramer for all the research endeavors she has initiated and sustained over the years and which has led to the creation of a dynamic and rich research environment in the Faculty.
