This week CALS signed a memorandum of understanding with the African chapter of the Attorney General Alliance (AGA-Africa)
The Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) is pleased to announce that we have entered into a memorandum of understanding with the African Chapter of the Attorney General Alliance (AGA-Africa). The agreement was signed virtually this week by CALS Director, Prof Tshepo Madlingozi, and Executive Director of the Attorney General Alliance, Ms Karen White, in compliance with current COVID-19 safety regulations.
AGA-Africa was established in 2016 to foster relationships with justice organisations and law enforcement agencies throughout Africa to support the rule of law and address transnational crime. Its mission is to share knowledge and experience in order to combat crimes like human trafficking, corruption, money laundering, cybercrime and other cross-border criminal activity.
In signing this agreement, our organisations have pledged to work together to promote human rights and the rule of law. We plan to collaborate on a series of workshops, seminars and study tours to share our legal and technical knowledge. We hope that this exchange of information will assist our organisations to develop strategies and training for addressing issues including: cyberbulling, human trafficking, illicit financial flows by transnational corporations, human rights violations by transnational corporations, and the decriminalisation of poverty / petty crimes.
