HI HOPES

Every day 17 babies are born with hearing loss in South Africa and this excludes the number of children who develop hearing-loss as a result of meningitis, ear infections or ototoxic medication. HI HOPES is the Early Intervention partner for families of deaf and hard-of-hearing babies. Hearing loss impacts all areas of development for babies, including language, socio-emotional, perceptual, cognitive and future academic performance. Early intervention is the key to typical development in all these areas.
