Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme

The Global Change Institute at the University of Witwatersrand is excited to announce our participation in the GREEN-STEM Student Mobility Programme, a unique opportunity for students like you to make a difference on a global scale. On a full mobility scholarship, you can join us at WITS or study at another partner African university. 

What is GREEN-STEM? An African Alliance between:
  • University of Nairobi (Kenya)
  • University of Lagos (Nigeria)
  • University of Rwanda (Rwanda)
  • University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa)
  • PSL University (France)

PROGRAMMES ON OFFER:The GREEN-STEM Student Mobility Programme offers a unique opportunity for postgraduate students to study at prestigious African institutions. A full Intra-Africa mobility scholarship in STEM and related fields is on offer, funded by the European Union, for Full Master's and PhD programmes, Semester exchanges, Internships, and staff mobility. This mobility grant allows students from participating institutions to join us at Wits or students from Wits to study at another partner African university. The GCI offers an MSc in Interdisciplinary Global Change Studies as part of this mobility programme.

Why Mobility? International mobility is crucial for developing unique knowledge, know-how, and competencies, and initiating a professional international network.

Who Can Apply? GREEN-STEM is open to postgraduate students across multiple STEM disciplines at participating institutions.

Applicants should meet the following criteria?: 
  • Female students
  • African nationality and residence 
  • From GREEN-STEM and AFRETEC Universities 
  • Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Closing dates
  • Full MSc closes on 25 September 2024 and 
  • Full PhD closes on 30 December 2024.
