Ethics Approval Applications

All registered Honours, Masters and PhD students at the Wits School of Education whose research involves human participants must get research ethics approval before conducting their research. Conceptual research does not need research ethics clearance.

Research Ethics Application Form

Complete the Education School Ethics Application form for BEd Hons students and MEd coursework students. All other applications must be submitted online at: www.witsethics.co.za. These include applications relating to:

  • MEd by dissertation
  • PhD
  • Staff research

Form Submission

Students are to email the completed form to their supervisor. After review, supervisors will then send it to the research ethics administrator, Matsie Mabeta (Matsie.Mabeta@wits.ac.za.)

The Research Ethics Committee meets once a month in a calendar year, although not in January, September, November or December.
