Division of Studies in Education

The Division of Studies in Education is a collegial and dynamic division at the Wits School of Education. We pride ourselves on our research-led teaching, and the core contributions we make to teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our division consists of members with a variety of established expertise in Psychology of Education, Sociology of Education, Philosophy of Education, and Inclusive Education.

Prospective postgraduate students are welcome to contact our staff members directly for enquiries about supervision for Masters research reports and dissertations, and PhD theses. We can supervise students planning to work on purely conceptual issues, as well as those interested in more empirical research. Please review our individual staff profiles for further details of our publications and research interests.

Aside from offering a range of specialism at the Honours level, we also present two taught Masters programmes, one in Inclusive Education and the other in Psychology of Education. Many of our postgraduate students assist us in teaching, tutoring, and marking across the division. Our postgraduate students participate in Division Seminars, and we actively mentor them in publishing, and laying the foundations for their own academic careers.
