Applied Development Economics

The major in Applied Development Economics will give you insight into the real world application of economic analysis to economic policy from a developmental policy perspective.

Overview


This major entails a grounding in real-world application of economic analysis in the field of economic policy from a development perspective; this grounding will be focused on South Africa as we hope to train graduates who can conceptualise effective responses to the country’s many developmental challenges.

  • Macroeconomics
  • Econometrics
  • South African Development Issues
  • plus one elective: Labour Economics or Public Economics 

Entry Requirements


Entry into ADE course:

The formal entry criteria for this major are the following 2nd-year level Economics courses: comprised of Intermediate Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Economics (International Trade and International Finance), Mathematical Economics and Economic Statistics.
