Accountancy

This diploma will provide students with access to the SAICA Initial Test of Competence Board Exam. It provides students with technical, theoretical and appropriate practical knowledge to be successful, not only in the Board exam but also in the corporate arena.

N.B All four courses must be passed in the same academic year

Entry Requirements


  • Wits University students who have successfully graduated with a BAccSci (Bachelor of Accounting Science) and who have passed Financial Accounting III, Auditing III, Management Accounting and Finance III and Taxation III in the same academic year, preceding their application are eligible for the PGDipAcc. 
  • Graduates from other universities with a SAICA accredited degree from a SAICA accredited university, who has met the entrance requirements of their home universities for the CTA equivalent year may apply for the PGDipAcc only. 
  • It is a requirement for these students to have passed all four of the “Big 4” subjects (Financial Accounting III, Management Accounting and Finance III, Taxation III and Auditing III) at a third-year level in the year preceding entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy.
  • In addition, students from other SAICA accredited universities who have not completed her/his undergraduate degree at Wits University are required to have achieved an average of 65% in these (“Big 4”) four subjects with no subject less than 60%.

  • Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC). Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
