Celebrating Freedom Day

Celebrated annually on the 27th of April, commemorates the first democratic elections held in South Africa in 1994. Although much has changed since 1994, more work remains to be done. It is now up to each of us to continue the road that began in 1994 and create a better nation for all.

Preconception Health and Care

CoE-HUMAN in partnership with SAMRC Wits Developmental Pathways for Health Research Unit set out to showcase the Bukhali HeLTI study as an exemplar of a programmatic intervention that shows the efficacy of a complex continuum of care that aims to combat the complex health burdens that young men and women who live in resource-constrained settings face, discuss prevention and health initiatives that are vital for the benefit of young men and women as well as show how good health and wellbeing matter prior to conception. The video showcases the role of the Bukhali trial as a programmatic intervention that aims to promote behaviour change from preconception.

Human Development

Human development involves the processes, on an individual and social level, towards fulfilment, not only of basic needs but of values including freedom, security, achievement and belonging. 

Chronic Illness Awareness campaign

The Wits Health Hubb partners with the Phila Sonke Wellness Initiative and other organisations to deliver health screening in Soweto.
