Prof Hopewell Ntsinjana
Head of Paediatric Cardiology (NMCH);

Professor Hopewell Ntsinjana is the head of Paediatric Cardiology at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics and Child health with the School of Clinical Medicine at University of the Witwatersrand. Prof Ntsinjana holds a medical degree (MBBCH) from the University of the Witwaterstrand. He is also a qualified Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist with FCPaed and Certificate in Paediatric Cardiology (Cert Cardiol Paediatrics) from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.

Prof Ntsinjana went on to train in advanced Cardiac Imaging at Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick Children in the United Kingdom. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from University College London. He has published in both local and international Scientific Journals and serves as a reviewer for many local and international journals.

He is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance imaging, current Former President of the Paediatric Cardiac Society of South Africa (PCSSA), former Vice President of South African Heart Association.

His interests include the diagnosis and care of children with congenital and acquired heart conditions. His skillset encompasses clinical assessments, echocardiography, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, Cardiact MRI, Cardiac CT in congenital heart diseases as well as peri-operative care of paediatric cardiac patients.
