Dr Kuona is a fellow at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. She is a recipient of a NIH grant (award number U01HL156943-01). The subject of her research is: Sickle Cell Hemoglobinopathy Research in Zimbabwe (SHAZ) to establish a sustainable infrastructure and operation aimed at addressing paucity of data that currently exist for SCD in Zimbabwe and Zambia by contributing to the SCD in sub-Saharan Africa network registry and biorepository. The SHAZ project will integrate common SCD management guidelines and utilize cohort and implementation science to increase uptake of evidence-based care practices.
