Prof Segal studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand and graduated in 1993. Some time was spent in the UK before starting a residency at the Cleveland Clinic Children¡¯s Hospital, in Cleveland Ohio from 1997 to 2000. From there he moved West to complete a Fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology at Riley Children¡¯s Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana graduating in 2003. He has had his own practice since 2003. Professor Segal works with Dr Marran, Dr Chhiba and a team of diabetes educators delivering general endocrinology and diabetes services in private practice at the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre which is an accredited training facility. These include teleconsults, endocrine stimulation testing and advanced diabetes management services.
