Airway Interventions & Management in Emergencies Course

Objectives:

• To provide an update in emergency airway management strategies.
• To provide a structured approach to oxygenation and emergency airway management in the acutely ill and/or injured patient.
• To introduce the candidate to various techniques and airway equipment used in acute airway emergencies.
• To provide a structured approach to managing a difficult and/or failed airway.

Target Audience:

Any medical, nursing or paramedical emergency personnel whose registered scope of practice includes advanced acute airway management.

Course Length:

Full - 1 (one) day course from 07h30 to 18h00

Course Structure:

• Supplied manual to read and study prior to the course date
• Lecture-discussions prior to each practical workshop
• AIME memory aid distributed during the course
• Several practical workshops to acquire necessary skills

Specific skills:

  • Basic airway management and BMV
  • Endotracheal Intubation
  • Rescue devices
  • Alternative intubation techniques and equipment

Assessment:

Course Pretest MCQ written at the start of the course.

Course Post-test MCQ written after the course 75 % pass required.
