Dr Alberto completed a Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch before continuing her specialist training in Ophthalmology at University of the Witwatersrand in 2005 through the College of Medicine of South Africa.

Areas of interest include cataract, oculoplastic and orbital surgery and surgical training of students.
